Toyota Prado Trims: TX, TXL, and VXL — What’s Available for Hire in Nairobi

Barguts Tours hires the Toyota Prado TX, at KES 12,000 per day as standard or KES 14,000 with an opening sunroof. In Kenya, Prado trims are named TX, TXL, and VXL: the TXL adds leather seating and upgraded infotainment, and the VXL adds features such as a panoramic sunroof and heated rear seats. TXL and VXL units are not part of the confirmed fleet, so check availability before booking either. Both TX variants share the same boot capacity, so Prado luggage space does not change with the sunroof option.

Which Toyota Prado Trims Are Available for Hire in Nairobi?

Barguts Tours hires out the Toyota Prado TX, available as standard or with a sunroof. In the wider Kenya market, Prado trims are commonly named TX, TXL, and VXL, rather than the global TX/VX/Kakadu naming used in some other markets.

What Does the TX Trim Include?

The TX trim includes the standard features confirmed across Barguts Tours’ Prado fleet: third-party insurance as standard, unlimited mileage, and no deposit on chauffeur-driven or standard self-drive hire. The sunroof variant adds an opening roof for elevated game viewing at an extra KES 2,000 per day.

What Does the TXL Trim Add Over the TX?

In the wider Kenya market, the TXL trim generally adds leather or leather-trimmed seating, upgraded infotainment, and alloy wheel upgrades over the TX’s cloth seats and basic infotainment. Confirm with Barguts Tours whether a TXL-specification unit is part of the current fleet before assuming this trim is available for your dates.

Is the VXL Trim Available for Hire?

Confirm with Barguts Tours directly whether a VXL-equivalent trim is available, since the fleet’s standard offering is the TX. VXL is generally the higher-spec Kenya-market trim, equivalent to what some other markets badge VX or Kakadu, and typically adds features such as a panoramic sunroof, heated and ventilated rear seats, a heated steering wheel, and a digital rear-view mirror. The flagship-level spec also adds Crawl Control and self-levelling rear suspension, the most advanced of the systems covered in Toyota Prado 4×4 capability. Exact features vary by model year, so confirm the specification of any TXL or VXL unit before you book.

What Should You Check Before Hiring Any Prado Trim?

Whatever trim you book, the same pre-hire checks apply across every Prado variant. See common problems to check before hiring a Toyota Prado for the full walkaround.

Frequently Asked Questions About Toyota Prado Trims

Does the Trim Affect the Daily Rate?

Yes, the sunroof trim is priced higher than the standard TX, reflecting the added feature. See car hire rates in Nairobi for the full rate table across the fleet.

Should You Request a Specific Trim in Advance?

Yes, request your preferred trim as early as possible when booking, since availability of a specific unit, particularly the sunroof variant, is more limited than the standard TX.
