Long Term Car Hire — Nairobi, Kenya

Long Term Car Hire in Nairobi — Weekly & Monthly Vehicle Rental

Barguts Tours provides NTSA-licensed long term car hire in Nairobi for expatriate relocations, diplomatic and NGO postings, extended corporate projects, and personal long-stay bookings by the week or month. Every long term hire includes a written maintenance and service schedule, a documented condition report at handover, and a single point of contact for the full rental period -- not a series of separate short-term bookings. Custom weekly and monthly rates: quoted against your vehicle category and duration.

Before You Book

Why Repeated Short-Term Bookings Don’t Work for an Extended Stay

Three failure modes recur whenever a long-stay need is handled as a string of separate short-term bookings instead of one documented long term hire.

Vehicle continuity

A Different Vehicle Every Few Weeks

Re-booking short-term means a different vehicle, condition, and sometimes a different category each time -- no continuity for someone settling into Nairobi for months at a stretch.

Maintenance

No Scheduled Servicing on a Rolling Short-Term Hire

A vehicle re-hired week to week has no built-in service interval -- routine maintenance gets missed, and the hirer is the one who discovers a fault on the road.

Administration

Repeated Paperwork and Repeated Deposits

Every new short-term booking means a fresh condition report, a fresh quote, and administrative overhead that a single long term agreement removes entirely.

How It Works

How a Long Term Hire Gets Set Up

Duration and Vehicle Category Call

We confirm your hire length, vehicle category, and self-drive or driver preference, and check real availability for the full period.

Written Long Term Quote

A written quote is issued covering the full duration at a single agreed rate -- daily rate times duration, confirmed in writing, not renegotiated mid-hire.

Condition Report and Handover

A full BDFP inspection and signed condition report are completed once, at the start of the hire period.

Scheduled Maintenance Through the Hire

Routine servicing is scheduled and coordinated by Barguts Tours for the duration of the hire, with a replacement vehicle provided for the servicing window.

Long Term Car Hire

Long Term Hire Options

Expatriate and Relocation Hire

A single vehicle for the full length of a Nairobi posting, without the disruption of repeated re-booking. Self-drive with a Kenya licence or IDP, or with a PSV-licensed driver for those not yet driving locally.

Diplomatic and NGO Postings

Extended vehicle assignment for embassy and NGO staff on multi-month postings, with the same documentation and PSV-driver standards as a corporate account.

Extended Corporate Projects

Project teams based in Nairobi for weeks or months get a consistent vehicle and single monthly invoice, rather than a new booking and a new invoice every few days.

Personal Long-Stay Hire

For anyone in Nairobi for an extended personal stay without owning a car -- one vehicle, one agreement, for as long as you need it.

Every Booking Includes

Long Term Hire Inclusions

BDFP Condition Report at Handover A full inspection and signed, photographed condition report completed once, at the start of the hire period.

Comprehensive Insurance for the Full Period Insurance confirmed in writing for the entire agreed duration, not renewed booking by booking.

Scheduled Maintenance Routine servicing coordinated by Barguts Tours through the hire, with a replacement vehicle provided during the service window.

Single Written Quote for the Full Duration One agreed rate for the whole hire period -- no renegotiation or rate surprises mid-hire.

24/7 Replacement Vehicle Guarantee A mechanical fault triggers deployment of a replacement vehicle within 2-4 hours within the 70km Nairobi service radius.

Unlimited Kenya Mileage No per-kilometre cap on standard long term bookings.

Optional PSV-Licensed Driver Available for the full hire period at KES 3,000/day within Nairobi, for hirers not yet driving locally or preferring not to.

45-Point Inspection Tyres, brakes, lights, fluids, AC, and seat belts checked and signed off before handover and at each scheduled service.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I rented a fielder hybrid, the car is well maintained no issues, good fuel consumption and the response was prompt, kudos on that but what you need to introduce or improve on is delivery to client's location, I had to come from Kajiado to pick the car in Nairobi

Owner's reply
Hi Emmanuel, thanks for the great feedback and for pointing that out. Glad the Fielder Hybrid served you well on fuel and condition, and that our response time hit the mark. Your point on delivery is well taken. We're working on making pickup more convenient for clients outside Nairobi. Appreciate you taking the time to share this, and we hope to have you back again soon.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does long term car hire cost in Nairobi?

Long term rates are the daily rate for your chosen vehicle category multiplied by the hire duration, confirmed in a single written quote for the whole period -- from KES 3,500/day for an economy saloon up to KES 13,000/day and above for premium and executive vehicles. Call 0707 116 220 for your exact weekly or monthly quote.

What counts as a long term hire versus a standard short-term hire?

Any hire of one week or longer is handled as a long term agreement, with a single condition report and written quote covering the full period, rather than being re-booked in shorter blocks.

Is maintenance included during a long term hire?

Yes. Routine servicing is scheduled and coordinated by Barguts Tours through the hire period, with a replacement vehicle provided during the service window so you are never without transport.

Is self-drive available on a long term hire, or only with a driver?

Both. Self-drive is available with a valid Kenya driving licence or International Driving Permit, or with a PSV-licensed driver at KES 3,000/day within Nairobi for those not yet driving locally.

Can I change vehicle category partway through a long term hire?

Category changes can be arranged subject to availability and a revised written quote for the remaining period -- speak to your Barguts contact before the change is needed.

What deposit is required for a long term hire?

A refundable security deposit is confirmed at booking based on vehicle category, and returned in full after the post-hire inspection, provided the vehicle is returned in the condition recorded at handover -- no hidden deductions.

Is long term hire suitable for a household rather than a business?

Yes. Personal long-stay hire is available on the same terms as a corporate long term hire -- one vehicle, one agreement, for as long as you need it in Nairobi.

Fleet for Corporate Hire

All vehicles pass BDFP pre-departure inspection, carry NTSA certification, and are comprehensively insured for commercial passenger carriage. PSV-licensed drivers are assigned to every booking.
