Probox Hire — Nairobi, Kenya

Toyota Probox Car Hire in Nairobi — from KES 4,500/day

Toyota Probox car hire in Nairobi gives you a practical wagon-bodied economy car with noticeably more usable boot space than a standard hatchback or saloon -- suited to luggage-heavy family trips, light deliveries, and small cargo jobs at the lowest tier of Barguts’ economy range. Barguts Tours prepares every Probox rental with a BDFP inspection -- tyres, lights, fluids, and interior condition checked and signed off before you collect the keys, plus a written fuel and mileage policy confirmed before deposit. Available self-drive or with a PSV-licensed driver from KES 4,500/day.

Before You Book

What Goes Wrong With an Undocumented Budget Car Hire

Most complaints about cheap car hire in Nairobi trace back to one of three undisclosed gaps -- all preventable with a written condition report and a clear policy stated upfront.

At collection

No documented pre-hire condition report

Without a signed condition report at collection, any pre-existing scratch or dent becomes a disputed damage charge at return -- with no record to settle it either way.

On the fuel gauge

An undisclosed fuel or mileage policy

A fuel or mileage policy that is not confirmed in writing before you drive off routinely turns into a disputed deduction from the deposit at return.

At the roadside

No real breakdown or replacement plan

An informal hire with no stated replacement guarantee leaves you stranded on your own if the car develops a fault mid-hire.

The Barguts Difference

Why Choose Barguts Tours for Probox Hire in Nairobi?

Condition Report Signed at Collection

Every Probox is inspected and photographed in the hirer's presence before key handover, with a dual-signed condition report -- so any pre-existing mark is on record, not a dispute waiting to happen at return.

Comprehensive Insurance Confirmed at Booking

Comprehensive cover is confirmed for every Probox hire before deposit is collected -- not assumed from a windscreen disc. The insurance certificate is in the vehicle for the full hire period.

Written Fuel and Mileage Policy

Fuel level and mileage terms are stated in writing before you drive off -- no verbal-only promises that turn into a disputed deposit deduction at return.

24/7 Replacement Within the Nairobi Radius

A mechanical fault triggers replacement vehicle deployment within 2-4 hours within the 70km Nairobi service radius, issued in writing as a standing guarantee on every hire.

This vehicle also works well for weddings and special occasions — see our Wedding Car Hire options.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I rented a fielder hybrid, the car is well maintained no issues, good fuel consumption and the response was prompt, kudos on that but what you need to introduce or improve on is delivery to client's location, I had to come from Kajiado to pick the car in Nairobi

Owner's reply
Hi Emmanuel, thanks for the great feedback and for pointing that out. Glad the Fielder Hybrid served you well on fuel and condition, and that our response time hit the mark. Your point on delivery is well taken. We're working on making pickup more convenient for clients outside Nairobi. Appreciate you taking the time to share this, and we hope to have you back again soon.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions — Probox Hire Nairobi

How much does Toyota Probox hire cost in Nairobi?

Toyota Probox self-drive from KES 4,500/day, including comprehensive insurance, BDFP inspection, and 24/7 roadside support. With a PSV-licensed driver, add KES 3,000/day. Weekly and monthly rates available on request. See our full range of economy vehicles for other budget-friendly options.

Why choose the Probox over a hatchback like the Vitz or Fielder?

The Fielder is also a wagon with strong boot space; the Probox sits just below it in price at KES 4,500/day, the most boot space for the lowest daily rate in the economy range -- the right choice when luggage or light cargo volume matters more than cabin trim.

Is the Probox available self-drive or only with a driver?

Both. The Probox is available self-drive with a valid Kenya driving licence or International Driving Permit, or with a PSV-licensed driver at KES 3,000/day on top of the vehicle rate.

What deposit is required for a Probox hire?

A refundable security deposit is confirmed at booking and returned in full after the post-hire inspection, provided the vehicle is returned in the condition recorded at collection -- no hidden deductions.

How quickly can I get a Toyota Probox in Nairobi?

Same-day Probox hire is available in most cases. Availability is confirmed within 1-2 hours of contact, with a written quote following within 30-60 minutes.

Is the Probox suitable for light deliveries or courier work?

Yes. The wagon body and folding rear seats give it more usable cargo space than a standard hatchback, making it a practical choice for light deliveries and small business errands around Nairobi.

Maximum boot space for the price. Condition report signed at collection. Comprehensive insurance confirmed.
